THE FLOW OF BATTLE

1. Briefing — study the map and the enemy's expected axes. 2. Deployment — you arrive before the enemy. Move your squads, draw trench lines (your men dig them), lay wire, mines and tank traps, site AT guns. Speed up time while they dig. 3. Battle — waves attack. Order squads, call artillery, smoke and air strikes, buy reinforcements — or take a rifle and fight in the trench yourself.

TIPS

Men in a finished trench expose only their heads, and artillery barely touches them. Infantry in the open die fast. Put wire 30–40 m in front of your trench so the enemy stalls in your killing zone. Tanks are stopped by AT guns, AT mines and tank traps, and infantry can close-assault them with grenades. Squads that take heavy losses break and run, and so do the enemy's.
